General Infomation
The Director of the Graduate Studies Office is responsible for managing and developing the University's graduate education activities, including program development, admissions, academic administration, student management, thesis/dissertation processes, and related academic activities.
The position serves as a key driver in expanding the scale, quality, and sustainability of graduate education, while coordinating closely with Faculties, academics, researchers, and relevant university units.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise the University Management Board on strategies and plans for graduate education development.
- Develop and implement annual operational plans for the Graduate Studies Office.
- Manage graduate education activities in compliance with applicable regulations and University policies.
- Coordinate with Faculties to develop, review, and improve Master's and Doctoral programs.
- Propose solutions to expand graduate enrollment and enhance educational quality.
- Organize and coordinate graduate admissions activities.
- Manage the academic progress and research activities of graduate students and doctoral candidates.
- Coordinate thesis, research project, and dissertation defense processes.
- Coordinate and monitor teaching and research activities of faculty members involved in graduate education.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of graduate education.
- Promote innovative teaching and research approaches and enhance the graduate student learning experience.
- Develop a network of qualified lecturers, researchers, and experts for graduate programs.
- Coordinate quality assurance and accreditation activities for graduate programs.
- Manage the Office's personnel and operations and propose improvements.
- Perform other duties assigned by the University Management Board.
Job Requierements
Education
- Hold a PhD or higher in a discipline relevant to the position and the University’s graduate education programs.
- Have sufficient foreign language and information technology proficiency to effectively perform the duties of the position.
Experience
- At least 5 years of professional experience in higher education.
- Experience in graduate education, admissions, academic program management, or graduate student administration is an advantage.
- Candidates with prior management or leadership experience in a Faculty, Office, Institute, Center, or graduate education unit are preferred.
Competencies
- Strong understanding of regulations, policies, and requirements related to graduate education.
- Sound knowledge of graduate admissions, academic administration, and the development of graduate programs and academic disciplines.
- Understanding of graduate-level teaching, research, innovative teaching practices, and academic management.
- Ability to advise and propose solutions for the development of the University’s graduate education activities.
- Ability to develop plans to expand graduate education and improve its quality.
- Strong ability to organize, manage, and operate graduate education programs.
- Ability to organize and coordinate graduate admissions, academic administration, and academic activities for Master’s students and doctoral candidates.
- Ability to monitor and evaluate teaching and research activities of lecturers, graduate students, and doctoral candidates.
- Ability to coordinate thesis, dissertation, and other academic activities in accordance with program requirements.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills, particularly when working with Faculties, Offices, lecturers, researchers, and relevant units.
- Strong analytical, synthesis, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to establish, maintain, and develop professional relationships and effectively communicate with relevant stakeholders.
